NSW is the capital of Australia’s pokies empire. Half of the country’s poker machines lie within their borders, and the clubs, pubs and state government have resisted all attempts to reform the industry for decades.

Their industry is shrouded in secrecy; NSW is the only state in Australia that refuses to make poker machine statistics freely available. These statistics can be used to drive better and more targeted reforms, identify communities most at risk, and devise more effective strategies for harm management, but rather than making the data available, the NSW govt charges for it. And they charge a lot.

That’s not good enough.

I’ve set up a GoFundMe fundraiser to crowd-fund enough money to buy all of the reports that the NSW government is trying to keep quiet. As I receive each report I will make it available to download here, and I will also analyse and cross-reference the data and publish all of my findings here as well.

And I won’t charge a cent. All of the reports, my analyses and articles will be free of charge, forever.

Let’s change the game.

NSW’s Dirty Dozen

They bankroll campaigns to protect their gambling industry, they have the ear of the government and they claim that they’re leading the fight against problem gambling, even while their profits grow… just who are NSW’s dirty dozen?
